  8. Hi does anyone know where we can find a very clean barn that can handle 250 guests. We must bring our own caterer (family) and handle our own liquor as the per plate charge at package deal places is too high for us. We want to buy a house and not spend all of our money on a wedding, but we have two large pushy families. Thank you so much Jasmina

  9. Hi Jasmin and good luck!!!!! Most barns can only hold 100 people and that with a dance floor. We looked for the same thing and wound up with a small barn with beams coated with droppings and a clean outdoor tent for eating in. We only used the barn for dancing as my husband is a doctor and refuses to eat in unsanitar12 y surroundings. I heard that they are building a new barn in the Catskills and something big in the Berkshires, so lets hope they have no critters and are not overpriced In terms off catering and booze, that's where they make their money. We wound up having to pay $100 per plate for a $C0sco steak. We kept the booze price down by only serving beer and wine and one frozen Martguerita. We found barns for rent in the Penny-saver but they were projects. We finally rented the Nipmoose barns but it turned into a full time job for two weeks just preparing and decorating and stocking. There is something to be said about just writing one check to the Gelan Farm

  10. This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. It’s the old what goes around comes around routine. Big thanks for the useful info......

  11. Thanks for compiling this list! If anyone happens to be looking for even more venues beyond NY, check out www.barnweddingcentral.com. They're compiling a national directory of barn wedding (rustic) venues. As the trend grows, there are more and more options to choose from.

  12. This website is such a great resource. My fiance and I are both from the Northeast (he, Syracuse and myself, suburbs of Boston) however we currently live in Dallas, TX. We have been going back and forth as where to get married, and this website has given me some great ideas.

Similar to Jasmina, we have big, pushy families. My fiance is a chef, so we are looking for a place with a lot of flexibility when it comes to the food and beverage side. Outside catering is a must. Need enough space for minimum 200 people. We are leaning towards Stone Tavern, Roxbury Barn, A Private Estate but if anyone has any of suggestions I would be so grateful.

    Take Care!
