I had an epiphany on Sunday while doing my grocery shopping. Although I typically shop with my reusable canvas grocery bags, I ALWAYS use those little plastic produce bags. What the heck am I thinking? I HATE those little bags - they are a pain in the butt to open and I NEVER reuse them, even though I promise myself every week that I'll save them for next week's shopping trip.
After I got the groceries put away, I went straight to the internet to look up reusable produce bags. I found a plethora of bags and some wedding favor companies offer them as well. What a great idea! Why hadn't I thought of this before?
So I did some more research on this. Here's what I found:
(c) Dream Green Weddings - $3.48 to $4.48 each |
- Dream Green Weddings (http://store.green-wedding.net/Reusable_Produce_Bag_Wedding_Favors_p/bt-01bag.htm) - these bags are made from recycled fabric; however, they are pricey at $3.48 to $4.48 each depending on the quantity AND they don't include that pretty bow.
(c) Reuseit.com - $1.79 to $2.19 each |
- Reuseit.com (http://www.reuseit.com/store/flip-tumble-reusable-produce-bags-p-2120.html) - While these bags are made out of synthetic materials (more resistant to shrinking and staining than their cotton counterparts), they are MUCH cheaper than the Dream Green produce bags. At $1.79 to $2.19 each (depending on quantity ordered), these are perfect for inexpensive, eco-conscious favors.

Reusable produce bags as a favor would be a huge hit if using locally grown produce in your centerpieces. Your guests could share the centerpieces by taking home a few apples in their new bags. If I was your guest, I would love it!!!
Happy Planning,
Lizzie
A consumable product in a reusable bag! This would be a HUGE step up from the usual unusable favor that people give at their weddings- this is a great idea!
